Another Link to Chicago Leaving
Well, today is officially Carolyn’s last day in Chicago. She had a little gathering a bar called the Globe (and English style bar, I might add). Tomorrow morning, she and her friend Mehreen, will be loading up her car for the trip to NJ, leaving Chicago after three years. It’s very bittersweet. I’m sad she’s leaving Chicago (for herself and because it’s one less person I know there), but it means she’s closer to joining me in London, which is nice.
Everyone wish Carolyn a safe drive and good luck on her next round of adventures!! 🙂

the globe actually had a dj who played debby gibson and tvs that showed reruns of the pee wee hermen show. I hope that’s not what british pubs are about.

Welll, when I first moved here, there seemed to be waaay too much of a resurgence in 80s fashion. Acid washed jeans, polo shirts, sweaters over the shoulders and that thing women did where they would poof their hair up (not ala New Jersey, but using bobby pins to make the middle section look like a small tumour). But now that you’ve made me think about it, I haven’t seen as much of it lately, so hopefully it’s passed.
I also heard a rumour that they Greene King IPA on tap and Dave liked it, but when he and Melissa were here visting, he kept bitching about how the beer was ‘warm’. Which begs the question, how was the Globe serving their proper English beer????

Sorry, sweetie. They served it ice cold.

Sigh. Stupid imperialistic Americans imposing their temperature bias’ on the rest of the world. A proper English Ale is naturally cooled and carbonated. None of this cooling and carbonating while it’s poured. 🙂
